But on former Buckeye Oden, as many outlets noted, the message dripped with irony: Basketball has stopped for the 7-foot Oden many times during what was once considered by some to be a can't-miss career when he was drafted No. 1 overall in the 2007 NBA draft.
Oden, currently a free agent, missed his entire rookie season and has played in parts of just three of seven seasons because of injuries, the Washington Post noted.
