In his final year as commander in Chief, President Obama picked the Kansas Jayhawks to win the 2016 NCAA Tournament, and he's expecting them to win it against North Carolina in the National Championship game.
As in years past, Obama went through his picks and reasoning with ESPN's Andy Katz, who released the predictions on Wednesday. Obama had Texas A&M and Michigan St. rounding out the Final Four.
The president admitted that he usually selects the higher seeds in the tournament because he is "just not knowledgeable enough with all the teams these days to be able to pick somebody who's an eight-seed to win the tournament."
Nevertheless, Obama did have some upsets in his bracket, including a prediction that 13th-seeded Hawaii would beat California in the first round.
Katz and Obama also went through the president's previous, mostly wrong selections since he took office in 2009. The president started out strong in '09, when he correctly picked UNC to win it all, but never again correctly picked a champion.
Maybe the president finishes his tenure at the White House with a win, but considering how much of a wild card the tournament can be, don't count on it.
